Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking clarity in any area of your life, therapy can be a powerful tool. I offer a free consultation to help you determine if we’re the right fit.
What if there is something I don’t want to talk about?
This is your therapy, and you are in control of the process. While I’ll want to understand your experiences, you always have the right to set boundaries. In fact, learning to recognize and communicate your limits is an essential skill we can develop in therapy together.
Is therapy going to be uncomfortable?
The short answer is yes and no. Many people feel nervous before the first session but often experience relief once we begin. Therapy is a space where you can breathe, reflect, and feel heard. While exploring difficult emotions can be challenging, you won’t have to face them alone—we will go at your pace, ensuring you feel supported throughout the process.
What if I don’t like my therapist?
Finding the right therapist is important, and I encourage open communication about what’s working for you. If we’re not the right fit, I’m happy to adjust where possible or help with referrals. Sometimes, discomfort with a therapist can bring insight into deeper patterns worth exploring, but you should always trust your instincts in choosing the right support.
You come from a different cultural background. Will you be able to understand me?
I appreciate this question because I asked myself the same thing when I chose to pursue my career in a different cultural context. My background has given me a deep appreciation for cultural differences, and I work to create an open, respectful space where your unique experiences are understood and valued. If cultural concerns are part of your therapeutic journey, we can explore them together in a way that feels safe and supportive. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and have found that our differences not only don’t stand in the way but actually open doors to a much wider perspective that wouldn’t be available otherwise.
Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
I provide only virtual therapy sessions, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own space. Even though I had reservations about this mode of working, my experience has shown that virtual therapy can be equally deep and transformative.
Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with CareFirst (which includes most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans). If you have other insurance, I can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement.
What are your fees?
My rates vary depending on session length and format. Check my fees here and feel free to reach out, and I’ll provide details on pricing and payment options. While I value my investment in my profession and need to make a living, I have still found a way to make therapy accessible to people who struggle financially.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule a session by reaching out through my website or calling (703) 672-1474. If you're unsure, I offer a free consultation to discuss your needs before committing to therapy.
What is your cancellation policy?
I highly value my time, and I require 24-hour notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. If something unexpected comes up, let me know, and we’ll work together to find a solution.
